Usha means "dawn" in Bengali, indicative of a new day, a beginning. It is among the beauty of contrasting textures and colors of natural materials that I began designing jewelry and thus a new chapter of my life. I am always mesmerized by the intricate details and subtle hues of gemstones and wood, shells, and seeds, horns, and bones. Who can equal that!  I just embellish here and there, work around nature's own designs, and try to let them "be."

Lovely green shell heishi beads are so alluring when combined asymmetrically with Swarovski crystals, sterling silver spacer beads, and large oval hemimorphite stones. Sterling silver wire and niobium earwires. A little over 2 and a half inches (6.3 cm).

Celebrating asymmetry! Irregular oval bone rings (dyed a lovely olive green) with delicate brass leaves dangling asymmetrically from the ovals. I love this composition! Brass wires, niobium earwires.

Labradorite and chrysoprase are two of my most favorite gemstones. High grade labradorite rondelles beads, flashing blue with every turn of your head, asymmetrically combined with an oxidized Hill Tribe fine silver ring and with pebbles from the shores of Lake Michigan.

Rose Garden      FB01

Tiny pink rhodonite beads, sterling silver spacers and cones, fossil  beads in natural tone, and soft (yes, soft!) luxuriant pink ... felt. These textile beads are handmade by women artisans in Nepal using  traditional felting techniques. Wear these beauties and imagine strolling in a fragrant rose garden! Sterling silver wire, niobium earwire. A little shy of 2 1/2 inches (6.3 cm).

A handmade lampwork glass artbead (Laurie Ament of Isinglass Designs) accented with high grade amethyst, green aventurine, sterling silver spacers beads and tiny seed beads dangle from a scrap of half oval Nepalese wool felt. Silver plated jumpring and sterling silver connector from Bali link the components to the earwire. Sterling silver wire, niobium earwire. Two and 3/4 inches (7.2 cm) long.
