The numerical system and calendar
developed by the ancient Mayan
civilization of Mesoamerica inspired the motif for this pair of
hand painted wood earrings. Gemstones such as mahogany
obsidian
and red jasper, strung on copper wire, add embellishments. The
wood pieces dangle from copper jumprings. Niobium earwires. A little
over 21/2 inches (6.5 cm) long.

Abundance

Fish symbolizes plenty and festivity in my
culture of eastern
India. I have used the imagery of fish to imply bounty and
abundance in life. Ceramic discs with pewter rondelles and
Japanese seed beads float above the fishes. Niobium wire and
earwire. 21/2 inches (6.5 cm) long.

This pair of hand painted wood earrings is
Inspired by a
clear midnight inky blue-black sky with spots of stars. Swarovski
crystals of delicate lavender - like the promise of dawn --
hover
over the wood pieces. Niobium wire and purple niobium earwire.
